VALLEJO – The Vallejo school board will be asked Wednesday to approve more than $1 million in combined salary increases with two different unions which represent non-teachers in the Vallejo City Unified School District.
The increases represent a two percent pay bump and are retroactive to July 1, 2020.
The largest increase – $737,260 – will be given to members of the California School Employees Association (CSEA), while $276,550 will be given to the Vallejo School Managers’ Association (VSMA).
In April, the school board approved more than $1.8 million for the Vallejo Education Association, which represents teachers throughout the district. That tentative agreement includes a one-time $2,500 stipend for each teacher required to be on site for in-person instruction during the implementation of the district hybrid learning program.
Those teachers who continue to teach via distance learning will receive a one time $500 stipend “for technology and instructional costs associated with Distance Learning,” according to terms of the agreement.
Teachers will be eligible to receive $100 for each month – up to $300 – in which school campuses were closed and teachers were expected to work remotely, a separate side letter of agreement between the district and union.
Prior to the open session, which begins at 4 p.m., the school board will meet in closed session at 3 p.m. to receive an update from Gigi Patrick, the district’s assistant superintendent for human resources on the status of negotiations between the school district and Vallejo Education Association and California School Employees Association.
The five-person board will also meet to discuss public employee appointment/discipline/dismissal/release, and meet with its legal counsel about anticipated litigation.
