VALLEJO — It’s 707 week, an annual Solano County-wide, community-curated effort to build economic strength and elevate the identity of a county rich with culture, creativity, and connection.
On Wednesday evening the 707 Film Showcase will bring local stories, filmmakers, music videos, and powerful creative voices to the big screen at the Empress Theatre. This free Vallejo event will feature stories and music videos about and from Vallejo’s landmarks and characters like Tony Holman from Tony’s Cakes and Elite Public Schools and it will include world premieres, award-winning films, and a live filmmaker Q&A.
And on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Mare Island Brewing Co. founder Kent Fortner will share the lore, legends and local history that shaped Mare Island as he guides the 90-minute 707 Week: Mare Island Bike Tour. The casual, guided ride will begin at the Coal Shed Brewery and make stops at Alden Park, ️St. Peter's Chapel, Pink Palace and Mare Island Dry Docks, then finish back at the brewery for post-ride pints. This is a BYOB (bring your own bike) event.
Then on Saturday afternoon, the “We Outside” Summer Night Market will enliven the 200 block of Georgia Street in downtown Vallejo. This free family-friendly event will feature local vendors, delicious food, a kid zone, cool cars, and live music and entertainment.
On Sunday afternoon, Chef Rene Johnson and Blackberry Soul Fine Catering will offer an unforgettable soul food experience at the Dan Foley Cultural Center during 707 Week's Vibe and Dine Soul Food Stroll. Experience soul food elevated to a new level in an afternoon rooted in culture, music, refreshing mocktails, and community connection.
Friday is the second Friday of the month, which will bring the 2nd Friday Art Walk to downtown Vallejo from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will sprawl from a fiber arts show at the McCune Room at the John F. Kennedy Library, along Georgia Street, where a live OZCAT Radio broadcast will highlight local musicians and hometown personality guests interviews, up through Marin and Virginia Streets, where local artisans will display their wares, and boutiques, galleries and shops will be open late.
Conclude your Art Walk experience Friday night with one of a variety of live music shows at a downtown venue.
The 9-piece swing band Nick Rossi's Jazzopaters will make their Vallejo debut playing two sets of Duke Ellington tunes at the Odd Fellows Hall.
San Francisco rapper Rappin' 4-Tay will headline a show at the Empress Marquee Club, with saxophonist Trinity Sax and R&B vocalist Andrea Nicole. DJ MysteeQ will keep the night moving before and between the live performances.
And Indie After Dark will present a night of original music featuring Kind Void with SIXLEGS at 4th Corner Speakeasy in Vallejo.

The John F. Kennedy Library will provide free lunches for youth 18 and under on weekdays throughout July and August in the Joseph Room.
Solano County Supervisor Cassandra James and Vallejo City Council member Charles Palmares will hold a Community Engagement Meeting at Union Baptist Church on Thursday evening. This is an opportunity to listen, learn, and build community together.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens after wastewater leaves your home, attend Behind the Flush on Saturday at 11 a.m. This tour of the Vallejo Flood & Wastewater District’s treatment plant is a rare opportunity to meet the department staff and see how they safely clean, treat, and return our community's wastewater to the environment. Be sure to pre-register on Eventbrite for a chance to receive special prizes.
On Sunday morning, join the City Cleanup by Rooted Vallejo to pick up trash on the Napa Valley Vine Trail. Meet in front of Panama Bay Coffee at 9 a.m. and help beautify Vallejo.
And on Monday evening, a second South Vallejo Community Meeting about the aftermath of the Grant School fire will be held at the Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church. Learn about the fire, site security, and to have a say about the steps being taken to protect the community.
Last but not least, on Tuesday evening, the Vallejo City Council will meet at City Hall. Come find out what’s happening at the city level and speak your mind about local issues. A Zoom option is available to participate remotely.

Ukulele Lessons

Monday Jazz Jam
Bring your instrument, bring your friends, and settle in for a night of live jazz at the Empress Marquee Club. Monday Jazz Jam is a welcoming, musician-friendly evening where players can sit in, listeners can enjoy a relaxed club atmosphere, and the music moves naturally from swinging standards to blues, ballads, Latin grooves, and spontaneous improvisation. This Week’s House Band is Jesse Levitt on saxophones, Brian Juarez on bass, Ben Flint on piano and Erik von Buchau on drums and vibes. Musicians play free and get dinner, making this one of Vallejo’s most inviting weekly gatherings for working players, students, seasoned improvisers, and music fans alike. Slow Stroll at Wetlands
The Parks Foundation is teaming up with the American Canyon Soroptimists for a monthly slow stroll series at Wetlands Edge trail. Join us for a leisurely paced walk on the first Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am. The pace will be casual for this social walk focused on meeting neighbors & enjoying a little outdoor time. Wear light layers & walking shoes. The stroll will last approximately one-hour along the flat, packed gravel wetlands trail.
