Upcoming Vallejo Events — Andrea Abbate and Willie Macc Comedy Show at the Empress Theatre

VALLEJO — Laughter is the best medicine, so check out one of these upcoming comedy events if you’d like a good laugh.

The Andrea Abbate & Willie Macc Comedy Show at the Empress Theatre on Saturday night will feature two highly rated comedians. 

Willie Macc has a fast, charismatic style that has made him a favorite in comedy clubs, television, film, and national commercials. Macc has built one of comedy's most authentic voices by turning life's messiest moments into unforgettable stories. He doesn't shy away from conversations most people avoid...he makes audiences laugh through them.

And Andrea Abbate, a powerhouse comedian, writer, performer, producer, and actor is known for smart, fearless, polished comedy. Abbate wields sharp timing, real-life storytelling, and a seasoned stage presence that connects with audiences and keeps the room laughing.

The Empress Marquee Club will be open for dinner at 5:30 p.m., and the comedy show at the adjacent theater will begin at 8 p.m.

Perhaps you are a budding comedian who loves to make people laugh. Then try out your lines at the Open Mic Comedy Night at Lucky Garden on Thursday evening. Or simply enjoy some humor while you savor Peruvian cuisine. The open mic, billed as “Grown Folks Comedy,” will give a cash prize for best five minute comedy set.

The first Friday of the month also brings opportunities to dance to different drummers.

It’s First Fridays Salsa  at Vino Godfather, when DJ Jay Fresco and B_Elev8ed will spin a mix of Latin and Afro beats that will keep you grooving all night. The floor will be open for dancing from 6 to 9 p.m, with a dance lesson featuring salsa, merengue, dance hall and Afro beats at 7 p.m. All ages welcome.

Or if goth music is more your style, the first Friday Vallejo Goth Night at the Odd Fellows Hall will feature Darkwave, industrial, EDM, and vintage goth music by OZCAT Radio Djs and a live set by Moon Cries Blood. Must be 18 or over to attend and 21 or over to enjoy the full bar.

Poets and poetry lovers are in for a treat at Poetry by the Cup open mic on Saturday at Moschetti Coffee Roaster. Sample coffee from around the world while you listen to poets take turns at the mic, or sign up to recite some words of your own. The community coffee tasting will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the poetry open mic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The weekly Jazz Jam at the Empress Marquee Club has moved from Monday to Thursday. This week’s event will begin with a performance by Parker Grant on organ, Tony Peebles on saxophone and Erik von Buchau on drums and vibes. The stage will then open into a jam session, when guest musicians will be invited to sit in and play. The club will open for dinner at 6 p.m. and the music will run from 7 to 10 p.m.

There’s plenty to do beyond Vallejo too.

The American Canyon Parks Foundation will host Wine & Wild – Sheep at Wetlands Edge Trail on Thursday evening. The presentation will explore the surprising connections between grazing animals, healthy soils, thriving wildlife, and clean waterways. Guest presenter Cori Carlson of Nature Protein Pasture will discuss the important role sheep grazing plays in managing American Canyon’s open space.

Napa Valley Vintners will be on-site to pour a selection of Napa Valley wines, and the American Canyon Soroptimists will lead a small craft project during the wine reception. The wildlife presentation is free and open to the public.

And in Benicia, the Museum of History will hold their annual White Camel Sale fundraiser this weekend at the historic Stone Hall. It will feature a wide variety of donated items, including antiques, collectibles, household goods, décor, books, tools, artwork, toys, jewelry, seasonal items, and more.

A ticketed pre-sale will be held on Friday evening. Then on Saturday and Sunday, the daylong White Camel Sale will be free to attend.

The Vallejo JFK Library offers the Lawyers in the Library program on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. Each meeting is 15 minutes. Join the Parks Foundation for an engaging presentation, the third installment of our 2026 Wine & Wild education series—where nature, community, and great wine come together. Nothing To See Here – Jason Perry

With a mixed media approach that combines drawing, collage, and painting, Jason Perry seeks to entice the viewer into the work through familiar visual iconography, bold colors, expressive marks, and textures. Once there, the viewer is offered a deeper layer of meaning to consider. Perry calls into question the blurred narratives, misinformation, and potential truths surrounding the UFO topic. At its core, "Nothing To See Here" invites us to look a little closer at our beliefs, our relationship to the strange, the unexplained, and our enduring fascination with what might be out there.

Baby Bounce

Just for babies and their grownups! Bring your baby for some cozy, active time on your lap. Baby storytime is designed for meaningful one-on-one interaction between baby and caregiver. Slow Stroll at Wetlands

The Parks Foundation is teaming up with the American Canyon Soroptimists for a monthly slow stroll series at Wetlands Edge trail. Join us for a leisurely paced walk on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. The pace will be casual for this social walk focused on meeting neighbors & enjoying a little outdoor time. Wear light layers & walking shoes. The stroll will last approximately one-hour along the flat, packed gravel wetlands trail.
