VALLEJO — The Vallejo Yacht Club will celebrate Opening Day of the boating season on Saturday by hosting a free, family friendly open house between noon and 5 p.m. There will be games for adults and children, and opportunities to participate in on and off the water games. The bar will be open, and hot dogs and soft drinks will be for sale between noon and 1:30 p.m.
The second Friday of the month brings the monthly Vallejo Art Walk. Visitors can browse shops and galleries and check out artisan vendors and street performers throughout downtown Vallejo. Most of the activity will be centered on Marin Street, with The City Arts Gallery on Virginia Street, Vallejo Clay Workshop on Georgia Street, and the McCune Room on the lower floor of the John F. Kennedy Library hosting art exhibits.
There will be lots of live music during Art Walk.
Members of the Townhouse Ramblers performing as Don Bassey and Friends will play their blend of Americana, folk and blues in the Vallejo Brewing Company courtyard, and the Somebody duo will play reggaetrova pop fusion in front of Anchor Pantry.
If you’d like to begin your Art Walk tour with dinner accompanied by live music, Ron McGee & The Jazz Bridge Group will perform at Bambino's.
Then as Art Walk winds down, head over to the 4th Corner Speakeasy in the Red Men's Hall to hear the band Moosetrout open for singer-songwriter Kristen Ford.
An afternoon of cinematic poetry and poetic spoken word will be held at the Vallejo Museum on Saturday afternoon. Monologues, Poetry & Open Mic will blend film and poetry and leave you ready to write your own story. Vallejo Poet Laureate Erik Manual Soto and Poet Laureate Emeritus and Jacalyn Eyvonne will both have a presence at this event.
If comedy is your thing, check out the Because of You - Comedy Fundraiser at the Empress Theatre on Saturday evening. The show will be hosted by J-Red, with comedians Steph Sanders, Rudy Ortiz and Tristan Johnson. Proceeds will help support Healthy Vallejo’s youth employment and delinquency prevention program.
Or head over to Bambino’s on Sunday night for an uncensored comedy show hosted by Black Book Comedy’s Guile Mosher, with comedians Dorian Foster, Bryan Beev, Mike Rayo and Mike Betancourt.
Solano County Fairgrounds will host two very different events on Saturday.
Eighty muscle cars will compete across multiple classes for a chance to take home a trophy at the Show n Shine Car Show,
And the Pangora's Box Oddities Market in McCormack Hall will offer original handmade items, including dark art prints, horror themed items, gothic, steampunk, and a huge assortment of all things strange.

Storm and Song: Romantic Piano Trios Across Europe
Benicia Chamber Players presents three sweeping and rarely heard Romantic piano trios in an intimate chamber music performance. English composer Alice Verne-Bredt’s Phantasie Trio unfolds in shadowy textures and dramatic surges, possibly its premiere performance in this part of the Bay Area! French virtuoso Cécile Chaminade brings brilliance and turbulence in her first piano trio, where fiery strings meet a glittering, driving piano part, showcasing the virtuosity of each performer. In her Piano Trio in D minor, Fanny Mendelssohn balances stormy urgency with luminous lyricism, culminating in a finale that builds to triumphant release. Performed by musicians Nigel Armstrong, Brady Anderson, and Jon Lee, this program presents the piano trio at full Romantic scale: passionate, expansive, and vividly alive.

Baby Bounce
Just for babies and their grownups! Bring your baby for some cozy, active time on your lap. Baby storytime is designed for meaningful one-on-one interaction between baby and caregiver. We'll have songs, rhymes, a book or two, and plenty of activities for both of you that are developmentally appropriate for children from birth to when they start walking. Storytime is followed by some time to stay and play with your baby or talk to other caregivers. This storytime is geared toward ages 0-18 months.

Campanelli Youth Chorus
The youth chorus class offers an enriching music education and performance experience to school-age children. The class empowers students to find their voice and develop an appreciation for singing and its power to lift the human spirit. Students gain a foundation in the choral arts, including musicianship, sight singing, and pitch and vocal training. The class is open to children ages 7 through 17 throughout Vallejo and surrounding communities, and no audition or previous music experience is required. Drop-ins are welcome. Scholarships are available through Vallejo Choral Society. s

Sewing Workshop - Quilted Potholder
Sew a quilted potholder at the JFK Library! The Vallejo John F. Kennedy Library is hosting a start-to-finish sewing workshop making a quilted potholder using a classic Shoo Fly quilt block pattern. We will provide a limited selection of fabrics, but you are more than welcome to bring your own materials if you have any you would prefer to use. We have 6 sewing machines available for the workshop. If you have your own machine you would like to bring, please let us so know so we can set up the room accordingly. City Council meetings are hybrid in-person and on Zoom. Agendas can be viewed on the City Agendas & Videos webpage and are posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance for regular meetings and 24 hours in advance for special meetings. There will be a video link at the left of the agenda page once the meeting begins. This will also serve as a future archive of the meeting.
