VALLEJO — Nobody should go hungry in Vallejo this Thanksgiving, as numerous turkey giveaways will take place across town in the coming days.
Sharky's Family Foundation will be at Marina Towers on Thursday afternoon, distributing turkey plates to the elderly, and The Greater Vallejo Recreation District will hand out turkey dinner kits to Vallejo residents at their Gobble, Gobble Turkey Giveaway event at the Vallejo Community Center on Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Then on Saturday, the Griffin Drive Church of Christ will host a turkey giveaway at 11 a.m, and state Assemblymember Lori Wilson and her team will host the 4th Annual Operation Gobble Gobble, and pass out frozen turkeys and other Thanksgiving essentials at noon at the Solano County Fairgrounds.

Also in the spirit of giving, the RABLE IV family friendly hip-hop festival will take place at the Bridgeway Church on Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. The event will feature music, family, games, food, and vendors. Admission is a donation in the amount of $1 or more, or two non-perishable items for the church’s holiday season food drive.
Another event to help get you into the holiday spirit will take place at St. Peter's Chapel on Sunday afternoon, when the Valley Quartet will perform a pre-Thanksgiving concert based on folk and country themes, along with some fun holiday classics. The chapel doors will open half an hour before the concert to allow guests time to take in the historic building’s Tiffany stained glass windows.
Or you may enjoy festivities at the Chanukah Faire at Congregation B'nai Israel on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., billed as “the perfect Chanukah shopping opportunity.”
A Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony will be held at the Vallejo Museum on Saturday evening. This event is hosted by the Solano Serenity Center, the Louise Lawrence Transgender Archive, Solano AIDS Coalition, On the Fringe Visual and Performing Arts and the Solano Pride Center.
On a lighter note, the fourth Sunday of the months brings another Drag Brunch event to Bambino’s, hosted by Sadie C. Sparkles and MissCherrylane. Enjoy the vibrant spirit of drag and queer culture expressed in dance and comedy during brunch with mimosas.

If you care to venture beyond Vallejo on Saturday morning, attend the guided Nature Hike at Lynch Canyon Open Space on Vallejo’s northeastern border. The view of the northern San Francisco Bay from Prairie Ridge is said to be worth the effort of the five mile trek over muddy and sometimes steep terrain.
