Upcoming Vallejo Events — Second Port of Cultures Street Festival

VALLEJO — The second Port of Cultures street festival is coming to downtown Vallejo at the waterfront end of Georgia Street on Saturday. This free, family friendly event celebrates Vallejo's 175th Anniversary through music, cultural performances, food, art, shopping, wellness and interactive experiences.

The festival will have a fun zone with a hoop arcade, soccer and other interactive games, an international food court and local makers and merchants.

The cultural performances will include Samoan and ballet folklorico dance, a global runway fashion show and Lucha Libro wrestling.

DJs will spin all day until a battle of rappers vs. singers at 5:30 p.m. Then R&B, pop and hip-hop artists Jourdan Jade and Red Lotus will sing at 6:30 and 7 p.m.

The last August Summer Nights of the year will liven up downtown Vallejo on Thursday evening. Seasoned Soul will bring a high-energy mix of classic grooves, funk, and high-octane dance hits to this event.

Mare Island Brewing Co. will pour beer in the Vallejo Main Street Beverage Garden throughout the evening, and a Kids Zone will offer creative activities and games to keep young festival-goers happy.

This Sunday is your last chance to see Art of Community Festival’s “Legacy in Color,” solo art exhibit that celebrates the work of Bay Area artist Diana Krevsky. The colorful, whimsical and thought-provoking paintings and sculptures will be on display at Mare Island Art Studios from noon to 4 p.m.

Roller Derby will return to the Solano County Fairgrounds this weekend. Carquinez Quad Squad, Vallejo's first flat-track roller derby league, will host teams from across Northern California on Saturday and Sunday at the 2026 California Derby Galaxy Tournament from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This regional tournament will showcase the athleticism, strategy, and excitement of modern roller derby in a family-friendly environment.

Touro University will host the 10th Annual Mosaic Gala on Thursday evening, outdoors on the Farragut Inn lawn. Proceeds from the evening will support the Mosaic Scholarship, and help open doors for the next generation of healthcare professionals and advocates. The event will feature a three course dinner with wine pairing and live and silent auctions.

A variety of sophisticated live music performances are coming up this week.

Richard Glazier will bring his wonderful piano playing back to the Vallejo Museum on Saturday afternoon. He'll play American standards such as Gershwin on the museum's Steinway piano in the jewel box theater. Half of each ticket sale will go directly to support the museum.

Then on Saturday evening, jazz vocalist, composer and arranger Tiffany Austin will sing at the 4th Corner Speakeasy. Austin headlines for the Vallejo Symphony and has performed with luminaries such as Pharoah Sanders and Taj Mahal.

On Sunday afternoon you can enjoy Wine and Jazz at the Glen Cove Marina, with live music by Trinity Sax & TG Lighted.

Or if you prefer classical music. Head over to St. Peter's Chapel on Sunday afternoon to hear The Works of Beethoven & Mozart, featuring a classical violin and piano recital by Berkeley-based duo Opus 4. 

Then on Sunday afternoon you can enjoy Wine and Jazz at the Glen Cove Marina, with live music by Trinity Sax & TG Lighted.

Musical offerings abound in Benicia as well.

Dirty Cello will bring their signature blend of blues, rock, and Americana to the Museum of History Benicia on Saturday evening. Their high-energy performances transform the cello into something bold, soulful, and unlike anything you've heard before! All ages welcome. Beer, wine, spirits and food will be available for purchase.

And St. Dominic's Church will host Sacred Americana: A Concert by Candlelight on Saturday night. Experience the beauty of timeless hymns, spirituals, and instrumental works in the resonant, historic setting of St. Dominic’s Church. 

The program traces a distinctly American musical journey—from the shape-note traditions of early America, through spirituals and gospel, and onward into the sacred music of our own time, culminating in the premiere of two works by living composer Cadence Strange. All proceeds will support the music department at St. Dominic's.

Poetry lovers can take in two poetry open mics on Thursday.

OZCAT radio’s Art Beat Poetry Hour will go on air at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Catch them streaming online or over the airwaves at 89.5 F.

And Poetry by the Bay will celebrate their 18th anniversary at their free, monthly spoken word open mic event at the Mira Theatre on Thursday evening.

Artist Reception & Talk, Lisa Reinertson: Of Water & Earth

Join us at NY2CA Gallery for the Artist Reception for Lisa Reinertson: Of Water & Earth, a solo exhibition by distinguished Benicia artist Lisa Reinertson.

Bringing together new and earlier work, the exhibition features figurative ceramic sculpture and works on paper in pastel, pigment, charcoal, and oil stick. From intimate shoreline studies to major freestanding figures, the work explores water and earth as both subject and substance, connecting landscape, body, memory, and material.

Reinertson is perhaps best known locally for Neptune’s Daughter, her bronze sculpture on the Benicia waterfront. The evening will include an Artist Talk at 5:45 p.m., offering guests a chance to hear Reinertson speak about the origins of the exhibition, her relationship to the Benicia shoreline, and the ways memory, nature, environmental urgency, and care have shaped the work.

2026 California Derby Galaxy Tournament
